Project recommendations presented to representatives of Ministry of Science and Education, Agency for Science and Higher and Education and University of Osijek

The first meeting with key stakeholders (Ministry of Science and Education and the Agency for Science and Higher Education) was held in Zagreb, March 10, 2017. The second meeting was held on 13 March 2017 in Osijek and included representatives from J.J. Strossmayer University in Osijek as well as from Ministry of Science and Education and the Agency for Science and Higher Education.

The agenda of the meeting with key stakeholders in Zagreb consisted of seven points of the agenda: 1. Introduction and presentation of the project, 2. Timeline of project activities, 3. Basic information on project guide and Local reports, 4. Presentation of feasibility study to launch the national base for quality assurance; 5. Presentation of policy recommendations to decision makers 6. Presentation of a national campaign to raise awareness of the importance of transparency of procedures and results of quality assurance in higher education and call for a round table in Zagreb, 7. Discussion. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Science and Education, the Agency for Science and Higher Education and IDE’s project team.

The project meeting started with a presentation of the project, key activities and goals of the meeting. The QUALITYWATCH: Croatian Higher Education Quality Watchdog project is aimed at increasing the visibility of public policies for quality assurance in higher education and increasing access to the existing results of evaluation of the quality of higher education institutions. Within the project activities, we have produced the document “Recommendations for Improving the Transparency of ‎Quality Assurance for Higher Education Policy Makers ‎and Decision Makers at Higher Education Institutions”, which contains policy recommendations based on conclusions and results of the research carried out within the QUALITYWATCH project.

The project team of the IDE Qualitywatch project presented the project recommendations at the meeting and consulted with representatives of key stakeholders in higher education about their content before submitting the project publication and the final event (round table) of the project. At the meeting, key stakeholders were presented with a final project publication focusing on recommendations for key stakeholders, research reports on the transparency of the quality assurance system in three Croatian counties (City of Zagreb, Osijek Baranja,  and Split-Dalmatia County), and feasibility study for launching a national base for ensuring and enhancing the quality of higher education.

Key stakeholders from MSE and ASHE reacted very positively to the project results presented and praised the quality of project activities. The discussion was very constructive and it was concluded that project research, as well as key tools, feasibility studies and recommendations will be used and consulted in drafting documents and strategic plans at the national level.

Another meeting with key stakeholders was held on March 13, 2017, at J.J. Strossmayer University in Osijek.  The Vice-Rector for Quality Assurance at the University, the President of the University Center for Quality, a representative of the Center for Peace, Non-Violence and Human Rights and members of the IDE’s project team were present. The agenda of the meeting consisted of seven points: 1. Introduction and presentation of the project, 2. Timeline of remaining project activities, 3. Basic information on the project’s Guide and local reports, 4. Presentation of feasibility study to launch the national quality assurance database , 5. Presentation of policy recommendations to decision-makers, 6. Presentation of a national campaign to raise awareness of the importance of transparency of procedures for quality assurance results in higher education, and call for a round table in Zagreb, and 7. Discussion.

The project team from IDE presented the results of the project research conducted at the institutions of higher education in Osijek-Baranja County. The project team then presented the project recommendations and consulted with the representatives of the University of Osijek on their content before presenting the project publication and announcing the final public event (round table) of the project. At the meeting, key project stakeholders were presented with a final project publication focusing on recommendations for key stakeholders, research reports on the transparency of the quality assurance system in three Croatian counties (City of Zagreb, Osijek-Baranja County, Split-Dalmatia County), feasibility study for launching a national base for ensuring and enhancing the quality of higher education

Representatives from the University of Osijek responded positively to the project results presented and commended the project activities. Particularly interesting and useful for their further work were local research and reports for Osijek-Baranja County.
